Moody's: outlook for the Italian life and non-life insurance market

Moody's is expecting a stable outlook for the Italian non-life insurance market and a negative outlook for the life insurance business.

The rating agency believes that rising insurance rates, particularly in the motor class of business, would sustain the performance of non-life insurers and largely offset the claims frequency and inflation.

The negative outlook for the life sector reflects the decline in savings policy underwriting and rising interest rates.
