Mauritian insurer, BAI, intends to acquire Kenyan Real Insurance

Mauritian company, British American Insurance (BAI) intends to buy Kenyan insurer, Real Insurance. The operation will be carried out through its local subsidiary Britam. This acquisition would allow Britam to increase its market share from 4.3% to 7.4% in Kenya, which will boost the group in fourth position in the country behind Jubilee (11.3%), CIC (9.1%), and APA (7.8%). In addition to Kenya, Real Insurance is present in Tanzania, Malawi, and Mozambique.
