Local oil and gas extraction entrusted to Ugandan insurance companies

The Ugandan government has planned to exploit soon the oil and gas extracted in the north western area of the country. A consortium of 17 local insurance companies will back up this project by pooling up the capacity of all its members. Part of the risk shall be retained on the market while surplus will be reinsured abroad.

This initiative would enable local insurers to benefit from a transfer of technology and know-how.
