Kenya Re is entering Uganda Re capital

Kenya Re has announced the acquisition of 5% of the capital of the reinsurer Uganda Re. This operation aims to diversify the Kenyan reinsurer's revenue and place Kenya Re in the niche of the energy insurance, a high-potential sector in Uganda.

The transaction amounts to 20 million KES (209 600 USD).

As a reminder, Kenya Re already acquired, in 2014, shares in the African Trade Insurance Agency in Africa (ATI), for an amount of 87.5 million KES (971 000 USD).
