Insurers point their fingers to the quality of ships built in China

May 03, 2016

A survey conducted by the Nordic Association of Marine Insurers (Cefor) has questioned the quality of Chinese shipbuilding.

On a sample of 4426 cargo ships built between 2007 and 2015, the study has reported more frequent claims for the Chinese ships compared to their Korean or Japanese counterparts with a gap of 82%.
The report has emphasized that the engine room is the main complaint made against Chinese buildings.
