Creation of a parametric pandemic risk pool in India

The Indian regulatory authority IRDAI is looking to set up a parametric pool dedicated to pandemic risks. The regulator and the Indian government have commissioned a working group to study the feasibility of such a project oriented towards the needs of local businesses.

The Indian pool would cover business interruption in the event of a pandemic. The project would also cover health expenses and some life insurance benefits.
