Alcohol or drug-consuming drivers penalized

As of March 1, 2014, drivers on police file for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol will pay an additional insurance premium besides to being prosecuted for violation of code of conduct. In 2013, blood alcohol concentration has been reduced.

The legislation is considered to be one of the toughest in the world. Offenders are now required to pay a premium of about 70 USD in addition to their compulsory motor insurance. Under criminal law, these same offenders risk a fine of 6600 USD. Moreover, any accident that causes the death of a third party person will carry a ten-year jail sentence.
